We investigate consequences of habitat fragmentation in tallgrass prairie. Our team conducts research to better understand the biology of plants, insects, and prairies. Team Echinacea’s scientific, conservation, and educational efforts can only succeed by fostering diverse, inclusive, and anti-racist communities. We strive to build a diverse and collaborative team committed to these principles.
We focus on a model study system: a common native prairie plant, Echinacea angustifolia (a purple coneflower), growing in remnant populations within an agricultural landscape in western Minnesota. Flowering head of Echinacea angustifolia
